The mission of Delphi Automotive Systems Component Engineering is
to identify the best quality and cost effective automotive components
by establishing common technical specifications and standards, searching
out and utilizing the latest component technologies, and driving their
implementation throughout Delphi Automotive Systems.
The purpose of this group is to evaluate all components used in Delphi Electronics Systems (DDES) products and confirm that components meet the requirements of the part drawing. A part drawing defines a set of agreed upon criteria such as device functionality, parametric limits, shipping and packaging information, and test requirements. Component Engineers interface with both internal and external suppliers, system designers, product engineers, purchasing, Advanced Quality Engineering, and other groups. Component Engineering is responsible for providing assistance in the reduction of warranty returns and the resolution of other part level issues. Responsibilities also include the development of new tests and other requirements for testing components as well as certifying the supplier test software on appropriate parts via Specification Conformance.
